How To Paint Window Frames Black
Today, I am partnering with Purdy once again to show y'all my favorite tools to use when painting window frames black.
We had these two big windows on one wall in our chamber that needed some updating.
These are the original woods windows in our abode, and they are not in the best condition, simply we practise non accept the budget to supersede all the windows in our home correct now. And black windows are VERY PRICEY!
However, black window frames are very on tendency right at present, and I knew that I could use some pigment to requite our old windows an updated look.
For this projection, I used these Purdy tools.
- Purdy White Dove 4″ Mini Roller with three/8 inch nap for smooth surfaces
- Purdy Clear Cut i.5″ brush for cut in
Before I started painting the window frame, Cy removed the former dated trim around the windows and replaced information technology with white primed 1×four's. We have slowly been trying to supersede all the trim in our former firm with these 1×iv'southward, and so this was the perfect fourth dimension to practice this in our room.
Hither is what the window looked similar afterward the new trim was installed.
Now I was prepare to apply the Purdy Clear Cut brush to paint the frame on my woods windows black. What I LOVE most this castor is that information technology gives such a clear well-baked line when painting that I don't even take to utilise painter's tape! It's seriously the best!
*Be certain to watch the video below to come across this brush in action!
When painting a window frame, y'all tin choose how much of the frame y'all want to paint and how thick y'all want the black part to appear.
I tried to show the possibility of three different looks in the film below.
The first prepare of windows shows when I started painting my chamber windows and Just painted the small wood trim directly around the window.
The "thicker" blackness windows in the middle are from my boys' room. I painted these windows a couple months ago. To give a thicker appearance, I painted more of the wood trim coming out from the sides and middle of the window. (You can run across how the white trim slice betwixt the windows looks smaller in the heart picture.)
And the last photo is of the windows in our dining room where I painted the trim between the two windows black as well. This gives the "thickest" appearance when painting your windows black.
I decided to go with the "thickest" await in my chamber as well, so I painted the middle trim between the windows black besides.
*Side note: Since our windows are non functioning, I just painted right over the window locks with my pigment and brush. If I wanted my windows to still be functional, I would accept removed the windows locks first with a spiral commuter and sprayed them with a spray pigment.
For the new white trim effectually the windows, I used a bright white semi-gloss paint to make the trim stand up out from the wall. The Purdy Mini Roller was perfect for this job and gave my trim a very shine cease.
Once all of the trim and window was painted, I hung some new white curtains…
I am loving how fresh and clean my windows wait now!
This project can exist completed in 1 afternoon and is worth every second!
Let'southward think what our windows looked like before…
And NOW!….
Such a difference!
Now I desire to pigment fifty-fifty more windows in my house! haha!
Here is a collection of videos I took during this process…
